GBP NZD Exchange Rates

Sterling exchange rates rallied against the NZD today at one point by over 1%. By close of trading however, the Kiwi dollar had recovered to leave rates stable on the day. This highlights how important it is to be in a position to move as by securing your dollars at the high of the day this would have gained you an extra 4,000 NZD compared to the close on a £200k transfer.

Following the Bank of England minutes this morning, the pound has gained against all major currency, with Sterling/New Zealand Dollar exchange rates improving by 0.75% by 3:30pm on Wednesday. Mervyn King talked up the posibility of interest hikes in the UK sooner than first expected.

Could the Bank of England minutes affect GBP NZD exchange rates?

At 9.30am this morning the Bank of England release the minutes from their October meeting. With rumours circulating that the minutes will contain detail of the end to the central banks Quantitative Easing, printing of money, programme, we could see some volatility on the markets this morning.

Already the Pound has strengthened against nearly every major currency accross the globe, apart from the Kiwi Dollar, showing a 0.3% fall during this mornings trading so far. This may be a sign of heavier losses to come; therefore if you have a requirement to send money to New Zealand or exchange Sterling for Kiwi Dollars it may be worth getting in touch with one of our experienced currency brokers sooner rather than later.

Sterling exchange rates have strengthened against the NZD dollar bringing gains in the past 3 trading days to over 4 cents. For those with a pending requirement a close eye should be kept on tomorrow’s Bank of England minutes released at 09:30 as this may cause large volatility for sterling exchange rates.

Kiwi exchange rates

Sterling has continued its good start to the week with gains of 1.25% agianst the New Zealand Dollar by 5pm. At 10:45pm UK time, visitor arrivals figures for NZ will be announced. As tourism is such a major part of New Zealand’s economy these figures can cause exchange rate movement. The Bank of England minutes will also be key at 9:30am tomorrow.
