NZD exchange rates

Exchange rates for buying new zealand dollars have seen little movement today, with Sterlng losing half a cent throughout the afternoons trading. Most eyes will be on tonights Unemployment rate released for New Zealand at 11:45pm UK time. Analysts are forecasting an increase from 5% to 5.7% from last month, and if this is confirmed it is possible that the kiwi dollar could weaken. Tomorrows intrest decision from the Bank of England at 12:00pm could also cause volatility in exchange rates.

Buying NZD with Sterling

Sterling continued its recent good run strengthening against the New Zealand Dollar by nearly 0.4% on the day. Sterling is still benefitting from some positive results announced by Barclay’s and HSBC yesterday which has given the UK economy a recent boost. For those looking to buy NZD in the next few days expect volatility in the run up to the interest rate decision on Thursday at 12:00 – analysts expect rates to remain at 0.5% but keep an eye on any announcements with regards to Quantitative Easing.

GBP vs NZD saw a small increase yesterday following the PMI data which showed that UK manufacturing had shown growth for the first time in fifteen months. After a period of negativity between the currency pair Sterling showed signs of strength.

Throughout this afternoons trading Sterling strength has seen GBP/NZD exchange rates improve by over 0.5%. Today’s Sterling rally has followed the reported profits from major UK banks HSBC and Barclays. Labour cost and Commodity price data tonight for New Zealand could have an effect on New Zealand dollar exchange rates tomorrow morning.
